Hey guys and girls,
Today I want to ask an odd question and look at goal achievement in terms of feeling worthy. It seems irrespective of the goal, we all tie our self worth into achieving (x). This could be a dream pain free body, a new car, house, money, relationship etc yet we set the goal and compare ourselves against it often asking the following:
"Am I Worthy of (x)?"
The answer is and always will be no!
The reason isn't a "mindset" issue it is our brain itself. You see the mind as we term it is the human part of our brain, it has dreams and creativity and also logical analysis. Beneath this though are two parts of the brain. And both parts of them are asking this one question “Am I Safe?”
Both parts are responsible for different types of safety one physical the other emotional:
The animal brain - responsible for physical safety, food and water and also sex (giggles at naughty word).
So it runs like this say the goal is "get out of pain and lose 10lbs of fat".
Brain asks how does "get out of pain and lose 10lbs of fat" affect my physical safety?
Then the fear mongering kicks in, especially if you have failed at getting out of pain and burning fat, it starts to real off a list of physical reasons why you won’t succeed:
Can you see how that process will keep you stuck?
After this the reptilian brian which is responsible for connection, love and social hierarchy asks:
how does "get out of pain and lose 10lbs of fat" affect my emotional safety?
Again then comes the list of reasons why not
Look the brain is hardwired to be this way and attempting to change this bit it like trying to wee in a hurricane; not impossible but takes a while and it’s bound to get messy!!!
There is a better way; ask a better question!
Instead of this: "Am I Worthy of (x)?"
Ask this instead "Is (x) Worthy of Me?"
So for the specific example above "Is getting out of pain and losing 10lbs of fat worthy of me?"
Hmmm different and more empowering question
Because it shifts the focus on you and not the goal!
And no one, not any of us like being told we can’t do something!!!
I’ll go through in the next post how this works on each level and also what happens if the goal is judged to be not worhthy of you (hint: even greater things happen here).
Untill then if you want a faster way to do this you can try the online version of the "Heal Your Back And Burn The Fat" program FREE for 7-days and also book your HYB&BTF Discovery session too by clicking this link: http://www.rebootpersonaltraining.com/heal-your-back-and-burn-the-fat.html
